Rocky vs Drago – Director’s Cut

A few months ago, Sylvester Stallone announced to his millions of fans via social media that he was in the process of creating a director’s cut of ‘Rocky IV’.

From what Stallone has said and in reading various editorials elsewhere, it seems what we are going to get is a much more ‘realistic’ and ‘serious’ version of the film.

Already it has been announced that the robot will be cut from the finished product, which is a promising start. There’s a chance then that most of the ‘eighties cheese’ might also go – such as the musical montages.

The trailer for the new film dropped a couple of days ago and it looked incredible!

My impressions were that a lot more focus will be placed on the Apollo vs Drago fight, perhaps to align it better with ‘Creed’ and ‘Creed II’. I noted that Apollo’s ring entrance was featured in the trailer, which hopefully means James Brown’s ‘Living in America’ will be there in all its glory. What a brilliant scene that was!

Apparently over forty minutes of unseen footage will be added to the film.

I’m really looking forward to this one.
