K13 Submarine Memorial

I have driven past this place at least twice a week over the last twenty years and today I finally decided to stop and check it out.

Located on Pennant Hills Road at Carlingford, this memorial was erected to commemorate a British submarine that sank and trapped its sailors underwater for many hours.

The connection to the local area is that one of the survivors emigrated to Australia after the war and lived in the Parramatta area.

One could argue that isn’t a strong enough case worthy of a monument, but nevertheless it is a quirky and interesting place to visit.
