I recently added a 1963 JFK-issued ‘Red Seal’ $2 US banknote to my collection.
It differs from the regular $2 note, so let’s compare them side by side.


The colour difference in seals and serial numbers is the most obvious, but observe the words ‘Federal Reserve Note’ above Jefferson’s portrait on the green issue, whereas the red issue reads ‘United States Note’.
The reverse sides are completely different, with the green issue featuring the signing of the Declaration of Independence whilst the red issue gives us Monticello, Jefferson’s home.
