I took this photo of the ‘Benaud Oval’ station in early February.
Here is a photo of the same station (from the opposite side of Church Street) taken a month later.
The overhead tram cables are in, but to date they only run as far as Prince Alfred Park, so I figure we are still months away from seeing any real action.
But to be fair, progress is progress, even if it is painfully slow.
I recently added a 1963 JFK-issued ‘Red Seal’ $2 US banknote to my collection.
It differs from the regular $2 note, so let’s compare them side by side.
The colour difference in seals and serial numbers is the most obvious, but observe the words ‘Federal Reserve Note’ above Jefferson’s portrait on the green issue, whereas the red issue reads ‘United States Note’.
The reverse sides are completely different, with the green issue featuring the signing of the Declaration of Independence whilst the red issue gives us Monticello, Jefferson’s home.
How much do you know about this unusual piece of Australian history?
On the 21st of April 1970, Leonard Casley, a wheat farmer from Western Australia ceded his farm and property from the Commonwealth and declared independence.
Adopting the title of ‘Prince Leonard’, Casley took on the government in a number of legal battles over the years and featured on the principality’s banknotes (above), as well as on coins and medals.
Prince Leonard passed away in February 2019 and his royal title was passed on to his son Graeme.
In 2020 the Hutt River Province officially closed its borders and the property was then sold.
There are plenty of Hutt River banknotes available to purchase on eBay. The complete set of five notes should cost between $15 to $20.
This video has gone completely viral and has been watched by millions of people around the world.
This would have to be one of the strangest incidents I have ever seen – incredibly amusing yet disturbing in the sense that people think they can visit foreign countries and impose their will on the locals.
Enter Brendan Kavanagh, aka Dr K – who not only stood his ground to the Chinese mob but also to the woke police who sounded like they were siding with the tourists.
It now appears that the CCP and their agents are trying desperately to have the embarrassing video removed from YouTube.
As a result the copyright owner has requested that as many people as possible upload his clip to their own channels in case the footage is taken down.
I have done exactly that and the link is below.
It is a long video at around forty minutes, but well worth watching.

I played through this classic three or four times when it was first released over twenty years ago.
I remember the game as being weird yet very entertaining, and some of the scenes in Mos Espa defy any logical explanation, such as the monster in one of the backyards. (Yes, I’m serious!)
Apparently it has been remastered for PS5, but perhaps they meant ‘sharpened up a little’.
The game can be purchased at the Playstation Store for under $8 (Australian).
