The Tasmania Devils have arrived!

The big reveal of the club’s name, logo and guernsey took place yesterday.

The AFL’s 19th team (I won’t use the term ‘franchise’) will officially join the league in 2028.

The club is offering $10 ‘founding memberships’ which have sold like hot cakes. In fact, over 50,000 new members were signed up over the first four hours, with the number passing 100,000 within a day.

Parramatta Light Rail – Testing the trams.

So, the signs were up and it was all systems go!

Excited to see the very first tram gliding along Church Street, I set out with camera in hand – ready to capture that historic vision!

PART ONE

PART TWO

I know I have posted articles in the past making fun of how slow this project has been, but I’m not trying to do that here.

There would have been work and testing going on, just not where I was filming.

As soon as I capture the trams in action, I will upload the videos onto YouTube and Rumble.

Speaking of Rumble, the links to the same videos are below.

I found ‘Miami Connection’ at JB HiFi!

I couldn’t believe my eyes!

Needless to say, this was an immediate purchase.

This is the stylish BluRay edition, with the film’s soundtrack on a bonus CD.

It also comes with a ton of special features, including deleted scenes, a documentary about Grandmaster Y. K. Kim and audio commentary from the great man himself.

‘Miami Connection’ special edition BluRay is available at JB HiFi for $28.

I did write a blog article about this movie a little while back. There is a link here https://seancarslake.com/2023/05/04/miami-connection-im-hooked/

Where are the trams? (Continued)

I took this photo of the ‘Benaud Oval’ station in early February.

Here is a photo of the same station (from the opposite side of Church Street) taken a month later.

The overhead tram cables are in, but to date they only run as far as Prince Alfred Park, so I figure we are still months away from seeing any real action.

But to be fair, progress is progress, even if it is painfully slow.

The US $2 Note – Green Seal vs Red Seal.

I recently added a 1963 JFK-issued ‘Red Seal’ $2 US banknote to my collection.

It differs from the regular $2 note, so let’s compare them side by side.

The colour difference in seals and serial numbers is the most obvious, but observe the words ‘Federal Reserve Note’ above Jefferson’s portrait on the green issue, whereas the red issue reads ‘United States Note’.

The reverse sides are completely different, with the green issue featuring the signing of the Declaration of Independence whilst the red issue gives us Monticello, Jefferson’s home.

Who trashed Kmart?

The shop looked like a pig sty and it was only nine o’clock in the morning.

What type of customer does this? And where are the cleaners?

Who opens a towel from its packaging and dumps it in another department? Is that a purse and some type of food container left there as well?

Gillette…The best a man can get!

Another example of the good old ‘Dump and Run’!

Let’s open as many boxes of globes as we can and then leave our empty drink cup!

More mess and it was the same in every aisle.

So who’s to blame here? I actually feel sorry for the staff for having to put up with such pigs.

I finally found one in my loose change.

The first Australian coin released into circulation and featuring the change of monarch is the 2023 $1 coin.

Although they’ve been around for a few weeks, I received my first one yesterday.

I suppose the other denominations will follow shortly.

Interestingly, I did hear that King Charles will not be on the $5 note when the design is updated.

Star Wars Battlefront is back!

The original PS2 games are making a much-awaited comeback on both PS4 and PS5.

The graphics have been updated and there will be new maps and characters, as well as a multiplayer mode for up to sixty people.

The Australian price is $53: – $48 with a PlayStation Plus membership.

Speaking of PlayStation Plus, I’ll have to re-join in order to get into the multiplayer action.

Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection drops at the PlayStation Store on March 14th.

Has it really come to this?

I remember the time when anti-shoplifting devices were attached to items such as video games or DVDs.

You know, if you tried to steal one it would set off the sensors at the front of the store.

Have a look at the photos below and see where we are today.

Have the self-serve checkouts contributed to this?

And will the new ‘security barriers’ help?

The way things are going at Coles, it will be easier to steal from Fort Knox!
