Pie In The Sky Roadhouse

It’s worth driving to the Blue Mountains via Bell’s Line of Road just for this unique bakery.

They make the best tasting pies I have experienced since leaving Tasmania almost 30 years ago. Not to mention the largest sausage rolls I have ever seen.

If you’re heading west out of Sydney, try taking the alternate route through Richmond rather than the Great Western Highway and you’ll come across this place.

Doctor Who thrown onto the junkpile!

TARDIS crash lands between a Persian takeaway and laundromat in North Parramatta.

Here’s something you don’t see everyday.

It seems the TARDIS has made an emergency crash landing outside some shops in Western Sydney.

One can only imagine it had intended to materialise somewhere around Oxford Street, but has ended up on the other side of town.

‘Doctor Who’ was once the most popular Sci-Fi show on the planet.

These days it is a flagship for LGBTQ and woke culture and no one watches it any more.

Anyway, if you leave your stuff unattended on these mean streets they are either stolen or trashed.

In the case of the wayward TARDIS, it was the latter.

Worldwide Rally For Freedom

Yesterday, for the first time in my life, I attended a protest.

‘The Worldwide Rally For Freedom’ was organised in all major Australian cities on the 20th November and the photos above are from the Sydney event.

The crowd was unbelievable and it was a wonderful experience.

K13 Submarine Memorial

I have driven past this place at least twice a week over the last twenty years and today I finally decided to stop and check it out.

Located on Pennant Hills Road at Carlingford, this memorial was erected to commemorate a British submarine that sank and trapped its sailors underwater for many hours.

The connection to the local area is that one of the survivors emigrated to Australia after the war and lived in the Parramatta area.

One could argue that isn’t a strong enough case worthy of a monument, but nevertheless it is a quirky and interesting place to visit.

The Great Hidden Wall

Officially, this landmark is known as ‘Northmead Dam’ and surprisingly a lot of locals are not aware of its existence.

To be fair, it is well hidden away.

The easiest way to access it would be at the end of Loyalty Road at North Rocks. Following the track down into the gully, the large concrete frame can be seen almost immediately.

Another way is to venture upon the bushwalking track that begins behind Hazel Ryan Oval, Whitbread Place just off North Rocks Road. The rugged path winds its way along the creek and to the foot of the dam. It would be a 45 minute to an hour hike.

There does appear to be a third way, on the Northmead side, somewhere near the ‘Rifle Range Steps’.
