Rocky vs Drago – Director’s Cut

A few months ago, Sylvester Stallone announced to his millions of fans via social media that he was in the process of creating a director’s cut of ‘Rocky IV’.

From what Stallone has said and in reading various editorials elsewhere, it seems what we are going to get is a much more ‘realistic’ and ‘serious’ version of the film.

Already it has been announced that the robot will be cut from the finished product, which is a promising start. There’s a chance then that most of the ‘eighties cheese’ might also go – such as the musical montages.

The trailer for the new film dropped a couple of days ago and it looked incredible!

My impressions were that a lot more focus will be placed on the Apollo vs Drago fight, perhaps to align it better with ‘Creed’ and ‘Creed II’. I noted that Apollo’s ring entrance was featured in the trailer, which hopefully means James Brown’s ‘Living in America’ will be there in all its glory. What a brilliant scene that was!

Apparently over forty minutes of unseen footage will be added to the film.

I’m really looking forward to this one.

The Western Sydney COVID Airshow!

Attention all locked-down citizens of Western Sydney! Do we have a treat for you!

Welcome to the inaugural Western Suburbs Airshow, proudly brought to you by your loving State Government. We’ve spared no expense! Our entire fleet of emergency helicopters will be coming to a street near you – up close and personal!

Either performing figure-eight patterns over your neighbourhood or simply hovering right above your house, our expert pilots sure know how to put on a show. Rounding out the excitement are flashing red and blue lights, powerful search beams and even loudspeakers so we can speak to you from high up above.

And the best news is, you don’t have to go anywhere to see it!

Murder at the cricket nets?

When driving by the local cricket nets the other night, I observed that they had been cordoned off with police tape. Someone wasn’t too pleased about this, for when I returned the following day to take a photo, most of the tape had already been torn away.

This is yet another example of lockdown lunacy and the inconsistent enforcement of public health restrictions.

All you need to do in Sydney is drive five minutes to a suburb where the COVID risk is apparently lower and you will find other amenities like these open to the public.

Hopefully that is where the local cricketing exiles have now gone.

Police Helicopters keeping us awake.

Ever since Parramatta LGA was deemed a COVID ‘hot zone’, the whirring of police helicopters flying overhead has been relentless.

I snapped this beauty from my balcony, flying so low I hardly needed to use the zoom. The screenshot came out better than I expected; quite clear and in great detail.

Basically, all day and night the police are hovering over our homes, using their infra-red cameras to identify gatherings of people. They then radio through to the nearest patrol car to intercept.

Welcome to the police state of New South Wales!

Paperbacks now available at Amazon.com

Most of my titles are now available as paperbacks on Amazon.com.

I must admit, I have been very impressed with the quality of the products.

Naturally they are a lot more expensive than the kindle editions, most of which are still available to download for free via kindle unlimited. For me, I am happy just to have readers experience my stories. Money does not come into it.

As a writer, it is rewarding enough just to see my name in print.

Lockdown Driver Wanted

I managed to squeeze a second entry into the UK Storyteller Contest for 2021. ‘Lockdown Driver Wanted’ is a novella written in the first person, following the daily diary entries of a pizza delivery driver during lockdown.

So far, of all the books I have written, this one appears to have found the most traction with audiences.

My entry in the Storyteller UK competition.

Available to purchase as either a Kindle eBook or paperback is my latest offering.

I have entered it into the annual Storyteller competition through Amazon UK. Just by glancing at some of the other entries, I realise that I am up against some literary big hitters! That being said, you have to be in it to win it, and I believe this work can hold its own.

One night at Wanderland

It is somewhat of a rare treat for me to be able to watch my beloved Wanderers play live. In this case, it was a game rescheduled on a Tuesday night, courtesy of the virus panic in Victoria a few weeks back.

Unfortunately the team played quite flat and were beaten by Melbourne City 2-0.

Nonetheless, it’s always a great night out in a wonderful stadium within walking distance from home.
